O'Flaherty (elbow) was activated from the 60-day disabled list Thursday.
After a long road to recovery following Tommy John surgery last May, O'Flaherty will slot back in to the Oakland bullpen. Prior to suffering the torn UCL, O'Flaherty had been one of the top left-handers in all of baseball, posting back-to-back sub-2.00 ERA seasons for the Braves. He'll likely be limited to low-leverage work for the Athletics in the early going, but could ultimately step in as a late-inning specialist if he's able to show some renewed effectiveness.
