Maybin was was suspended 25 games Wednesday for violating the league's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Maybin will serve the suspension immediately after he tested positive for amphetamine use during a drug test earlier this season. The suspension will keep him off the active roster until April 20, with the Padres adding Jeff Francouer from Triple-A El Paso to take his place. The 27-year-old Maybin was in the midst of a disappointing season for the Padres, batting .247 with one homer, nine RBI and three stolen bases over 62 contests.
