Hernandez pitched 5.1 shutout innings in his final start of the season Sunday, allowing one hit and no walks with seven strikeouts in a win against the Angels.
Hernandez was cruising along but was pulled shortly after the Mariners were eliminated from the playoff race thanks to an A's win. His only hit allowed was a broken-bat single. Hernandez finished the year with a 15-6 record in 34 starts. In his 13 games without a decision, Hernandez posted a 1.88 ERA while the Mariners totaled a mere 20 runs of support. Hernandez's 2.14 ERA is tops in the AL, second only to Clayton Kershaw's 1.77 ERA in all of baseball. He also led the AL in WHIP (0.92), BAA (.200) and QS (27) and finished in the top five in IP (236), strikeouts (248), K:BB (5.39), K/9 (9.46), G/F (1.35) and FIP (2.62).
