The Yankee ace probably won't be back anytime soon.

So, you drafted CC Sabathia with hopes that he'd rebound this season. Then, you watched him go on the DL with a knee injury and thought, "Maybe he'll be able to help me in the second half." Well ... maybe not. Sabathia reported swelling in his right knee the morning after his Wednesday rehab start. He's been shut down, and isn't expected to see orthopedist Dr. James Andrews until next week. At this point, the Yankees don't have any idea when Sabathia will be back. Ugh.
Thursday's studs & duds
Stud: Another nice outing for Max Scherzer. If you take out Scherzer's 10-run debacle from June 17, his ERA this year would be 2.81. I guess there's no chance you had him benched that day, huh?
On Thursday, the Yankees demoted IF Yangervis Solarte and called up 3B Zelous Wheeler, who hit a home run in his first big-league game against the Twins. Wheeler has modest power (seven homers, .834 OPS at Triple A this season), but he's a minor-league journeyman and will be a part-time player, so let's not get too excited.
Tonight's pitching matchup at Coors Field is Clayton Kershaw against ... Jair Jurrjens? Yep - the Rockies traded for Jurrjens on Wednesday. He had a 4.46 ERA in six Triple-A starts with the Reds, so don't expect much.
Vance Worleywas solid in a loss to the D-backs, so we're up to 53-39 on the season. The weekend picks are Jon Niese (owned in 29.2 percent of FOXSports, com leagues) tonight against the Rangers; Jose Quintana (14.1 percent owned) on Saturday versus the Mariners; and Padre righty Jesse Hahn (37.9 percent owned) on Sunday against the Giants.
I'll be on vacation next week, but colleagues Ryan Fowler, Joel Beall and Adam Meyer will pop in here with updates. Happy Fourth of July, everyone!
