Wings’ preseason schedule includes home-and-home series with Babcock’s Leafs

The Red Wings open their eight-game 2015-16 preseason schedule against NHL Western Conference champion Chicago in the United Center on Sept. 22. The schedule concludes with a home-and-home series with rival Toronto, where Mike Babcock is now coaching after 10 years of service in Detroit.

The Blackhawks, who open their Stanley Cup Finals series Wednesday at Tampa Bay, will complete a home-and-home preseason series with Detroit by visiting Joe Louis Arena on Sept. 23. That’s the first of three consecutive home games for the Wings. Pittsburgh visits on Sept. 24, followed by a visit by Boston on Sept. 26

Detroit will play the Bruins two nights later at the TD Garden, then travel to Pittsburgh on Sept. 30.

Babcock will bring his Leafs to the Joe on Friday, Oct. 2, and the teams will have a rematch the next night at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre.

Tickets for all Wings home preseason games go on sale Aug. 14, and can be purchased at the Joe Louis Arena Box Office (313-471-7575), all Ticketmaster outlets (800-745-3000) or online at DetroitRedWings.com.
