Negotiations between the Detroit Lions and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh are temporarily on hold.

The two sides were expected to discuss a contract extension during the NFL owners meetings this week in Orlando, but those talks are being rescheduled.

Lions president Tom Lewand said he recommended to Suh's agent, Jimmy Sexton, that they wait until after the league meetings.

"We've talked, and will continue to talk, but just decided this wasn't the most conducive place to do business," Lewand told reporters in Orlando. "We talked about getting together later in the week."

Suh could become an unrestricted free agent after the 2014 season. The delay in negotiations has been in part because Suh changed agents during the offseason, recently hiring Sexton to represent him.
