Van Noy, who was married last weekend, returned to the practice field Tuesday for the first day of the Detroit Lions' three-day mandatory mini-camp.
He signed his four-year contract last week, including a $2 million bonus, and then tied the knot with Marissa Powell, the 2013 Miss Utah.
Football player and beauty queen -- they are now the All-American married couple.
"It was awesome," Van Noy said. "It was a beautiful day. It was about 75 degrees. We were in the shade. We had intermediate family there for the gathering. The reception had about 700 people. It went really well."
The wedding, which was back in Utah, was attended by his former college and current NFL teammate, Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah, and included an ice sculpture of the Detroit Lions' logo:
"We became real good friends, went through some growing pains in growing up," Van Noy said. "Now we've been together for a while. I'm just happy she's on my side and said 'Yes' and 'I do.'
"Without her, I'm not at my best."
So far, his best has passed the eye test for Lions coach Jim Caldwell.
The players aren't in full pads for these offseason workouts. The Lions won't know for sure what they've got in their second-round draft pick until training camp begins in late July and once the games begin.
But Caldwell likes what he's seen.
"He's big, physical and he can run," Caldwell said. "We can see the physical tools that he has from being able to run.
"He's smart. He wants to be good. He's diligent about his work. He listens. He asks great questions. All the good things there. He's making good progress."
And now he has a very attractive wife, too. They will be taking their honeymoon to St. Lucia later this summer.
