Tell us how you became a FOX Sports Girls
I jumped at the opportunity to audition when Detroit was searching for a new FOX Sports Detroit Girl. I have always been a huge Detroit sports fan and the FOX Sports Girls role combined everything I loved to do! To say I was excited when I found out I got the job is an understatement! It truly has been such an amazing experience.
What has been your favorite experience as a FOX Sports Girl?
As a FOX Sports Girl, my favorite experience was the Road to Launch for FOX Sports 1! Traveling the country with my fellow FOX Sports Girls was an absolute blast and such a bonding experience. I loved that the road trip included so many exciting destinations and ball parks--we were able to meet sports fans all over the U.S., tour their cities and promote the launch of FOX Sports 1. One of my favorite stops was spending the day with the soldiers at Ft. Campbell, we got to train with them and rappel down a 30-ft wall and get to know them over breakfast, lunch and dinner. I'm so thankful to FOX Sports for giving me these opportunities that have made such special memories for me.
What is your favorite sports memory?
This is constantly changing for me. Watching my Michigan State Spartans not only get to the Rose Bowl... but becoming the 2014 Rose Bowl Champs!!! I can't tell you how emotionally invested I have been in Michigan State Athletics and all the football games I watched on the MSU Dance Team and as a fan waiting for a moment like that. SO Gratifying!!! GO GREEN!
For the ultimate sports fan, what are the three things you recommend them to experience in your city?
Hypothetically, let's say it's April or May, the Red Wings are in the playoffs and the Tigers are just beginning their season. The ultimate sports fan would need to check out a Tigers day game at Comerica Park, head to Slows BBQ (Detroit staple) for an early dinner, and then get CRAZY at the Joe for Red Wings playoff hockey! Any one in for next spring?!?
Who has been the greatest influence on you being a sports fan and why?
My dad has absolutely influenced everything from the teams I cheer for today to teaching me how to pitch a softball in our backyard as a little girl. My dad has also taught me (and led by example) how to be a Detroit Lions fan through thick and thin! ;)
If you could play any position/role on any team what would it be and why?
I can definitely see myself being the quarterback on a football team... it takes leadership, poise, and execution and it sounds like I'm the girl for the job! :)
The FOX Sports Girls are involved in many community and charitable initiatives. Please tell us about your experiences and if you have a favorite charity or group that you work with.
I am a HUGE animal lover so I get way too excited (in a good way) about our involvement with the Humane Society. We recently shot a promo at the Humane Society of Huron Valley to help raise funds and involvement for their annual 'Walk & Wag' event. It always breaks my heart seeing all the dogs and cats in need of homes at the rescue and I'm so passionate about finding these animals their forever homes.
In May of 2013, I represented FOX Sports Detroit at an event called 'Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo'. At this event many animal rescues from around our area brought dogs and cats to the zoo to promote pet adoptions and of course, I met my 'best friend' and rescued my dog, Jackson (he is a German Shepard/Golden Retriever/Border Collie mix)!
The FOX Sports Girls participate in the annual Spring Training to the Troops trip. What ties to the military do you have? (Family, friends?)
The Spring Training to the Troops trip means a lot to me because my brother was in the Navy for 10 years and I know how much it means to our military men and women to feel outside support and recognition for all they do for our country.
First game you ever attended?
My parents took my brother, sister and I to a Tigers game back at the old Tiger Stadium when I was six years old. I'll admit, I was quite consumed with my hot dog and soda that day, but it sparked a love for the Detroit Tigers that has definitely grown with age!
Who is your favorite person to follow on social media and why?
Besides Chrissy Tiegen??? Andre Drummond, the Detroit Pistons center--this guy has some major Insta-swagger.
Are you superstitious? If so, what are some of your pre-game/during the game rituals?
I'm not very superstitious, but I do believe the energy I put in as a fan will absolutely affect my teams' performance... 'so go big or go home'.
What sports did you play growing up?
First and foremost, my sport was ballet--I grew up training in classical ballet and a couple other styles of dance, and I call it a sport because it requires extreme athleticism to dance in pointe shoes! I also played youth softball (shortstop & pitcher), and tennis. In college I was on the dance team Michigan State University which gave me a front row seat all the football and basketball games!
What's your favorite sports rivalry?
Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions is one of my favorite rivalries; they've been playing each other at least once a season since 1933! Ford Field or Soldier Field, I'm there!
What is your go-to super bowl dish?
I'm definitely a chips and Super Bowl Queso kind of girl ;)
Do you have any sports events on your bucket list?
I've been to some really awesome sports events but I do have one particular thing on my bucket list, I would be complete as a sports fan if I could watch the Detroit Tigers win the World Series (preferably at Comerica Park)!
What is your favorite sports movie?
Moneyball! I love Brad Pitt and I love the look at the statistical side of baseball!
What # would you wear if you played sports?
I would definitely wear #8! My birthday is on the 8th and it's always been a lucky number for me! This will make me sound like a total dork, but from an aesthetic standpoint, it's symmetrical and it also represents infinity, which are just added bonuses ;)
What would your walk up song be?
'Bad' - Michael Jackson, it's family-friendly but it still makes a point ;)
Name the local sports heroes from your hometown.
Derek Jeter was Michigan-raised, I always like to claim him as a local athlete!
