Australia sets India 161-run target for semifinal spot

MOHALI, India (AP) Opener Aaron Finch top-scored with 43 as Australia notched 160-6 against India in their World Twenty20 Group 2 game on Sunday.

Electing to bat first in a virtual quarterfinal with the winner reaching the knockout stages, Australia got off to a blistering start before being restricted by a strong bowling effort by India.

Finch added 54 for the opening stand with left-hander Usman Khawaja (26) off only 4.2 overs but Australia then lost wickets at regular wickets.

Glenn Maxwell (31) was the other notable contributor to the score but the team could not regain its early momentum again.

Australia reached 50 in 3.4 overs but 12.5 to hit 100 and 150 in 19.4.

India allrounder Hardik Pandya took 2-36 with his seam bowling.
