Nebraska congressman honors 'Team Jack'
Rep. Adrian Smith (R-Neb.) took a special moment Monday to honor Nebraska native Jack Hoffman for winning the 2013 ESPY Award for Best Sports Moment.
Jack Hoffman is a seven-year old boy from Atkinson, Nebraska and a lifelong Huskers fan. Despite his young age, Hoffman has battled brain cancer, secondary epilepsy, and two life-threatening brain surgeries.
Inspired by their son's battle, Jack's parents Bri and Andy started the Team Jack Foundation — an organization dedicated to raise awareness of pediatric brain cancer. Little Jack was thrust into the national spotlight during Nebraska's 2013 Spring Football game, when the youngster walked onto the field and promptly ran for a 69-yard touchdown:
The moment was amazing enough to win an ESPY, and Smith took this exposure a step further by congratulating Jack in front of the House of Representatives.
A truly inspirational story, and a very worthy of a "Best Sports Moment."
