Michigan offense makes Irish defense look ordinary

Coach Brian Kelly is putting more of the blame for the loss to Michigan on the offense.
Kelly said during his teleconference Sunday that he doesn't believe the Fighting Irish defense can be as dominant as it was in leading Notre Dame to the national championship game. He doesn't want them to have to be, either. He says there are times when the offense has to win some ballgames.
The 21st-ranked Irish (1-1) couldn't do that Saturday night, losing a 41-30 to No. 11 Michigan. Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner did what Denard Robinson and just about every opponent not named Alabama couldn't last season: make the Notre Dame defense look ordinary.
Coach Brady Hoke said Gardner allows the Wolverines to run the pro-style offense they want.
