Michigan says skywriter didn't target Spartans

A Michigan spokesman says the school was not targeting rival Michigan State when it hired a skywriter to draw pro-Wolverines messages last Saturday.
A ''GO BLUE'' message in the sky was visible from Spartan Stadium, where Michigan State was playing Youngstown State. Michigan spokesman David Ablauf says his school simply hired a skywriter to canvas southeast Michigan. Ablauf says it's his understanding that it's not possible to target one location - that a message in the sky is high enough and large enough that it can be seen from miles away and still seem like it's overhead.
Ablauf says the skywriter also drew the school's traditional block `M' - as well as numbers 76 and 79 for two former Wolverines whom Michigan was honoring at Saturday's game against Akron.
