Deon Randall scored four second-half touchdowns as Yale pulled away from Cornell for a 38-23 win Saturday in the Ivy League opener for both teams.
The Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0 Ivy League) broke a 10-10 halftime tie with four consecutive touchdown drives, the first three culminating with touchdown passes from Henry Furman to Randall.
Randall then ran for a 10-yard score on Yale's following possession to extend its lead to 38-10 in the fourth quarter. Randall finished with 11 receptions for 148 yards. Furman went 29 for 36 and had 353 yards passing.
Jeff Mathews threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns for Cornell (1-1, 0-1) but also tossed two interceptions and fumbled on a sack. Cornell led 10-7 just before halftime but couldn't stop the Yale offense in the second half as the Bulldogs avenged a 45-6 loss in last year's game between the two teams.
