Cincinnati QB Legaux receives extra eligibility
The American Athletic Conference announced Wednesday that hardship waivers had been approved by the NCAA for Legaux and Bearcats receiver Shaq Washington.
Legaux will have one more year of eligibility. Washington, who missed most of the 2011 season with an injury, has two years left.
Legaux was injured Sept. 7 at Illinois. He was hit while trying to pass and his left leg bent awkwardly, damaging several ligaments. He is still rehabilitating his knee and hopes to be ready for fall camp.
Legaux has thrown for 2,847 yards and 20 touchdowns and run for 627 yards and seven scores in 31 games for the Bearcats.
Notre Dame transfer Gunner Kiel and junior college transfer Jarred Evans are expected to take most of the reps during spring football for Cincinnati, which begins Feb. 27, 2014.
Washington had 78 catches for 783 yards last season.
