The BCS bowls showcase the nation's best teams, and some of the best players, like Clemson phenom Sammy Watkins (pictured). Here are a few to keep a close eye on, as NFL scouts will be doing the same. -- PETE STELLA (@PeteStellaFOX)

CFB 24 1460 BCS bowls: Players to watch 30497189 Kevin Zeitler, right guard, Wisconsin Kevin+Zeitler%2C+right+guard%2C+Wisconsin CFB

The Badgers are known for their massive offensive linemen -- and Zeitler fits the profile. At 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, the three-year starter is a big reason why RB Montee Ball was a Heisman finalist after rushing for 1,759 yards and 32 touchdowns. Zeitler and Wisconsin are looking to take down Oregon on Jan. 2 in the Badgers' second straight Rose Bowl appearance.

CFB 24 1460 BCS bowls: Players to watch 30497192 De'Anthony Thomas, running back, Oregon De%27Anthony+Thomas%2C+running+back%2C+Oregon CFB

Thomas may be small, at 5-foot-9 and 165 pounds, but wow, can he fly. The freshman gained 1,011 all-purpose yards and scored 14 touchdowns and added another scary dynamic to the Ducks' already skilled offensive backfield. Thomas returns to his hometown of Los Angeles as Oregon faces Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 2.

CFB 24 1460 BCS bowls: Players to watch 30497193 Coby Fleener, tight end, Stanford Coby+Fleener%2C+tight+end%2C+Stanford CFB

One of Andrew Luck's favorite targets over the last several seasons, Fleener is a handful. At 6-foot-6, 244 pounds, the senior can block as well as stretch the field. And, the kid can catch. In 2011, Fleener made 32 receptions for 648 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Cardinal, who face Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2.

Kyle Terada - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G5_20111224124821218_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G5_20111224124821218_107_80.JPG
CFB 24 1460 BCS bowls: Players to watch 30495324 Levy Adcock, offensive line, Oklahoma State Levy+Adcock%2C+offensive+line%2C+Oklahoma+State CFB

At some point, Levy Adcock could be a coach. But first, the NFL will want to get its hooks into the 6-foot-6, 322-pound beast for the Cowboys. The senior was part of an offensive line that allowed less than a sack per game in 2011. Adcock and Oklahoma State get a huge test when they take on Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2.

Andrew Weber - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G6_20111224124822219_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G6_20111224124822219_107_80.JPG
CFB 24 1460 BCS bowls: Players to watch 30497191 Mike Martin, DL, Michigan Mike+Martin%2C+DL%2C+Michigan CFB

Martin is a huge reason for the Wolverines' improvement from 2010. He recorded 54 tackles and three sacks to help Michigan earn its first BCS bowl berth since the 2007 Rose Bowl. Martin's skills will come in handy when the Wolverines battle Virginia Tech and 6-foot-6 QB Logan Thomas in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 3.

Tim Fuller - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G7_20111224124841223_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G7_20111224124841223_107_80.JPG
CFB 24 1460 BCS bowls: Players to watch 30495323 David Wilson, running back, Virginia Tech David+Wilson%2C+running+back%2C+Virginia+Tech CFB

Dear Michigan defense, be afraid. Wilson quietly rushed for 1,627 yards and nine touchdowns for a solid Virginia Tech team. The junior could be in for a big Sugar Bowl performance on Jan. 3.

Sam Sharpe - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G8_20111224124841222_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G8_20111224124841222_107_80.JPG
CFB 24 1460 BCS bowls: Players to watch 30495327 Bruce Irvin, defensive end, West Virginia Bruce+Irvin%2C+defensive+end%2C+West+Virginia CFB

The Clemson offensive line will get a real test on Jan. 4 at the Orange Bowl. Irvin is a pass-rushing master and recorded 38 stops and 7.5 sacks during the 2011 season.

Derick E. Hingle - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G9_20111224125611235_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G9_20111224125611235_107_80.JPG
CFB 24 1460 BCS bowls: Players to watch 30497194 Sammy Watkins, receiver, Clemson Sammy+Watkins%2C+receiver%2C+Clemson CFB

No freshman burst onto the scene with more flash and brilliance than Watkins. As part of Clemson's sensational quick-strike offense, Watkins caught 77 passes for 1,153 yards and 11 touchdowns. The WR should be a blast to watch for the next several years and be certain that the West Virginia defense is sweating in anticipation of their Orange Bowl showdown on Jan. 4.

eremy Brevard - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G1_20111224124822220_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G1_20111224124822220_107_80.JPG
CFB 24 1460 BCS bowls: Players to watch 30497196 Sam Montgomery, defensive end, LSU Sam+Montgomery%2C+defensive+end%2C+LSU CFB

In case you haven't heard, LSU has a really good defense. And Montgomery is scary good. The sophomore, listed at 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds, made 44 tackles, nine sacks and forced one fumble for the undefeated Tigers. Montgomery and LSU can put the finishing touches on an impressive undefeated season by taking down Alabama in the BCS Championship Game on Jan. 9 in New Orleans.

Matthew Emmons - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G10__20111224124857225_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/12/24/122411_BCS_bowls_to_watch_bw_G10__20111224124857225_107_80.JPG
CFB 24 1460 BCS bowls: Players to watch 30497195 Marquis Maze, receiver, Alabama Marquis+Maze%2C+receiver%2C+Alabama CFB

While Alabama has relied on the strong legs of RB Trent Richardson all season long, Maze has some serious skills. In 2011, he caught 56 balls for 627 yards. As a deep threat, the senior stretches the field to make things a bit easier for Richardson to hit a home run. The Crimson Tide get a rematch with LSU on Jan. 9 in the BCS Championship Game in New Orleans.
