Appling confident shoulder will be OK
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP)
Appling hurt his right shoulder with 8:35 left in the Spartans' 70-48 win. He left the court about a minute later, and didn't play again.
He was injured while trying to guard Tigers guard Geron Johnson.
''It slid out, but it slid back in,'' Appling said. ''It's nothing. I should be ready to play.''
Appling was knocked out of a February game against Minnesota when his right shoulder popped in and out.
''It was pretty much the same as the Minnesota game,'' he said. ''Since it had happened before, I knew what was happening. It was very painful. But I could've gone back in if I had to.''
Izzo said he had ''no idea'' how serious the injury was, but like Appling, he didn't sound worried.
''He could have gone back in on guts alone,'' Izzo said.
Appling, the team's leading scorer, was held to two points on 1-of-4 shooting and had two assists in 28 minutes against Memphis.
