Georgetown fires bulldog mascot
Athletes aren’t the only ones who can be cut.
This week Georgetown announced that its live bulldog mascot-in-training, Jack Jr., no longer would be associated with the Hoyas program. The school explained in a news release that it had consulted with professional trainers and Jack Jr.’s breeder before determining that “returning to a home environment is what is best for J.J.”
An incident in the fall during which J.J. injured a small child factored into the school’s decision. Now Georgetown is left scrambling for a replacement on the eve of its first season in the new-look Big East.
We wonder if Jack Jr. woke up one morning to a pink slip in his kennel.
