Wiggins wants to play for Raptors
Andrew Wiggins surprised plenty of people by picking Kansas, and the hoops phenom's pick of NBA teams to play for is pretty unusual, too.
Wiggins, widely expected to be the first player taken in the 2014 draft, recently was asked which team he'd be the best fit for if the draft were tomorrow. His choice?
The Toronto Raptors, "because I want to play for them,” he said. Which is probably the best news in Raptors history.
Now, Wiggins is Canadian, so it's an understandable answer. And given Toronto's last-place finish last season and trade of scoring star Andrea Bargnani, there's a good chance the Raptors will be drafting No. 1 next year.
But really, how many teens who dream of being an NBA star would actually say they want to play for the Raptors? Have you seen their roster lately?
Hey, if Cleveland can draft LeBron, Toronto could have its moment, too. It might even work out better than the last time the Raptors drafted No. 1 — 2006, when they took the Italian Bargnani.
