USC Upstate pulls away from Tennessee State 73-64
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP)
Torrey Craig scored a game-high 22 points to lead USC Upstate to a 73-64 victory over winless Tennessee State on Saturday.
Craig was 8 of 17 from the field, hitting just two of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc, but still beating his Atlantic Sun Conference leading 18.7 points per game. Ricardo Glenn added 15 points for the Spartans (5-3) and Jodd Maxey had 10 plus eight rebounds.
Tennessee State (0-8) trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half but closed the gap to just 33-30 at the break. They were unable to challenge as the Spartans pulled away in the second half. Both teams struggled offensively, hitting just 40 percent from the field, but the Tigers gave up 15 turnovers to the Spartans' eight.
Patrick Miller led Tennessee State with 20 points, while M.J. Rhett added 11 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out.
