Santa Clara beats South Florida 66-65 at Las Vegas

Shemiye McLendon, 10 points, scored a running layup at the 27-second mark to put the Bulls up 65-64.
The Broncos were 17 of 20 from the free-throw line, while the Bulls were 9 of 24. South Florida shot 55 percent from the field, while Santa Clara was at 38 percent and was outscored in the paint, 44-20.
The Broncos led 28-25 at halftime and opened up the lead to 36-28. But the Bulls answered with a 16-6 run.
The Bulls took the lead on a Perry layup with 10:59 remaining, 49-47. South Florida then built its largest lead at 60-51.
This was the first meeting between the teams.
Nobody could control the first half with eight lead changes and four ties.
Santa Clara, which only turned the ball over three times in the first half, outscored South Florida 13-1 on points off turnovers.
The Broncos, who ended the game with only eight turnovers, scored the game's first five points, which was their biggest lead. South Florida never led by more than two points in that session.
