Easton, PA (Sports Network) - The Lafayette Leopards will have men's head basketball coach Fran O'Hanlon in the fold for some time after he signed a new 10-year contract with the school. Financial terms were not released. O'Hanlon, who was rumored to be a top candidate for La Salle's vacant men's position, will enter his 10th season as Lafayette's head coach. He is the second all-time winningest coach in Leopard history with a 141-117 career mark. Lafayette also has captured three Patriot League regular-season titles and made two NCAA Tournament appearances under O'Hanlon's tutelage. He is now signed through June 30, 2014. "I love Lafayette and what we have built here," O'Hanlon said. "I look forward to coaching the program into the future and further enhancing the tradition of Lafayette basketball." Last season, the Leopards finished with an 18-10 record, including a 7-0 start through the first round of Patriot League action. In the 1999-2000 season, O'Hanlon guided the team to a school-record 24 wins. He is the recipient of two straight Patriot League Coach of the Year awards. "We are delighted to have reached this agreement with Fran, ensuring that he will continue his distinguished career at Lafayette for many years to come," director of athletics Bruce McCutcheon said. "I look forward to working with Fran as we continue to build upon the great reputation of Lafayette and its men's basketball program." Lafayette opens the 2004-05 campaign on November 20 at Duquesne.
