Marshall Henderson is at it again
Marshall Henderson was the story of Thursday's early NCAA tournament action, and he didn't even play.
The mercurial Ole Miss star was up to his old tricks again Thursday, giving a memorable press conference a day before his No. 12 seed Rebels take the floor against No. 5 seed Wisconsin.
Among the topics was his love of . . . Duke:
"I’ve been a Duke fan since my dad ever told me anything about basketball. It was all about Duke, Duke, Duke. I love the way they play."
His financial future:
"I’m trying to get paid here soon because I’m tired of doing all this stuff for free. And this is where you make your money, the NCAA tournament."
His general antics, and whether they are "calculated":
"I guess. I don’t know. I’m not real good at math."
His NBA idols:
"My favorite players in the NBA all do (head-bobbing, trash-talking and the like), like J.R. Smith. People like that. JaVale McGee. I love those kinds of players. They can put a crowd in the arena, sell some tickets."
The mercurial Ole Miss star has had his share of non-basketball outbursts, including a "I taunt you, you flip me off" exchange with Auburn fans earlier this season.
It might be obnoxious if he wasn't so consistently bold. Let's see if his Rebels — who won the SEC tournament last week, leading to a fun night out for Marshall — can produce the same kind of entertainment on the court.
