Burton, Nevada rally to beat Cal Poly 60-58

Burton also stole the ball with two seconds to go and Nevada (1-1) ran out the clock as Cal Poly lost at home for the first time in 13 games.
Burton finished with a game-high 22 points for the Wolf Pack, sinking 9 of 19 field goals. Cole Huff added 14 points and Michael Perez 13 for Nevada.
Cal Poly (0-2) was led by Chris Eversley with 19 points. Kyle Odister added 11.
A layup by Maliik Love gave Cal Poly a 56-53 lead with 1:06 to play and another by Eversley made it 58-54 with 28 seconds to go.
Perez drilled a 3-pointer from the top of the key to pull Nevada within one point with 17 seconds to play, setting the stage for Burton's heroics at the end.
The Mustangs turned the ball over on the inbound pass after the trey by Perez and Burton made the game-winning layup and free throw. Burton then stole the ball at halfcourt and dribbled out the clock.
Cal Poly never trailed in the first half, building a 10-point advantage at 26-16 with 4:46 to play on a pair of free throws by Jamal Johnson. The Mustangs led 32-23 at the break.
Cal Poly led by 11 points on three occasions in the first five minutes of the second half, and then went into a cold spell, scoring just two points over the next 12 minutes. The Wolf Pack capped a 16-2 run on a layup by Huff, giving Nevada a 49-46 lead with 3:34 to play.
A pair of free throws by Eversley with 3:13 to go ended the Mustang drought. Cal Poly regained the lead twice in the final three minutes, but could not hold off the Wolf Pack down the stretch.
Thirteen of Cal Poly's 17 turnovers occurred in the second half.
Cal Poly out-rebounded Nevada 37-30, led by Eversley with nine.
Johnson finished with seven assists for Cal Poly.
