D.J. Irving scored 22 of his 27 points in the first half, made a career-high seven 3-pointers and Boston University defeated Binghamton for the eighth straight time, 79-58, Saturday in America East Conference play.
Irving, who scored just seven points against Maine, made his first seven shots, including five from 3-point range, and tallied 19 of the Terriers' first 29 points. Dom Morris made 6 of 7 shots for 13 points, John Papale had 12 and Maurice Watson Jr. dished out a career-high 13 assists for Boston (13-11, 7-4).
Jordan Reed recorded 17 points and 11 boards for Binghamton but made just 4 of 20 shots.
Binghamton (3-21, 1-10) led 6-4 before Irving rattled off 14 straight points to give Boston the lead for good, 18-6. Irving hit four treys during the spurt. His sixth 3-pointer of the game helped the Terriers take a 42-28 advantage into the break.
