Week 8 FCS schedule is a dandy

(STATS) - Intriguing storylines fill the Week 8 schedule in the FCS next weekend - one of the best of the season.

The matchups don't even have to involve conference leaders as Richmond and Delaware will attest. They've had their game circled on the calendar ever since December, when Danny Rocco made the rare move across CAA Football by leaving Richmond's highly successful program after five seasons to become the Blue Hens' coach. They meet Saturday at Delaware Stadium with both teams sporting 4-2 records.

The Northeast Conference features a meeting of last year's co-champs, Saint Francis at Duquesne, while Alcorn State visits Grambling State in a rematch of the last two SWAC championship games. Plus, the Ivy League's two 5-0 teams, Columbia and Dartmouth, meet in New Hampshire.

Jacksonville State seeks to continue its record 27-game Ohio Valley Conference winning streak at Eastern Illinois, which sits in first place with a 4-0 conference mark.

In the Missouri Valley Football Conference, second-ranked North Dakota State hosts Western Illinois and 2016 FCS runner-up Youngstown State tries to stay above .500 at Northern Iowa.

The MEAC co-leaders face challenges as North Carolina A&T hosts Bethune-Cookman and North Carolina Central hosts Norfolk State.

Top-ranked James Madison travels to in-state rival William & Mary in CAA Football, Wofford's first-place lead in the Southern Conference is at stake against Samford, and Big Sky leader Eastern Washington faces a tricky road assignment against Southern Utah.

Defending Pioneer Football League champ San Diego faces another cross-country trip against Jacksonville and Big South surprise Monmouth hosts Liberty.

The Week 8 schedule kicks off Friday night with Ivy League rivals Princeton and Harvard meeting in perhaps a title elimination game.
