Urban Meyer watched the CFP selection show in the most unlikely place

The College Football Playoff selection committee revealed the top four teams on Sunday and Ohio State was ranked in the No. 3 spot. It wasn't a huge surprise to see the Buckeyes make the playoff, and head coach Urban Meyer learned the news in a very special way — in the maternity ward.

Meyer's daughter, Nicki Meyer Dennis, gave birth to Meyer's first grandchild, a boy, early Sunday morning. During a press conference later in the afternoon, Meyer said that he and his son got to the hospital around 5:00 a.m. and his grandson Troy was born shortly thereafter at 5:30 a.m.

Meyer said he watched the College Football Playoff selection show from the fifth floor maternity ward at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.

The Buckeyes had the weekend off and will return to the practice on Monday to begin preparing for Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 31.
