Mora often is linked to NFL coaching vacancies just about every offseason. Texas also came calling but fell short of landing him. When Steve Sarkisian bolted for USC, many thought Mora surely would leave for Washington, his alma mater. He didn't.
“I didn’t go to my alma mater,” Mora said. “I didn’t go to Texas. I haven’t taken an NFL job. And I just gave a little bit of cash to help build this building.
“I would hope it would put (and end to) any of those silly rumors that our opponents are using against us that I’m leaving."
Mora also wants to build something at UCLA, something he hasn't done in his short time at his previous stops.
“One thing that’s always been important to me, thinking about my career, is leaving some sort of a legacy somehow,” Mora said. “I’ve never been able to stay anywhere long enough to do that, and I’m hopeful this could be the place I could do that.”
