SEC Football: Ranking the Teams 1-14

Each week we will rank SEC football teams based on what happened in the previous week’s action.

14

Mississippi State Bulldogs

(0-1)

Last week: 0-0 record
Last rank: NA

MSU lost to Sun Belt team South Alabama 21-20 this week. It was not the ideal way to usher in the post Dak Prescott era and it was the worst loss so far in Dan Mullen’s tenure.

13

Vanderbilt Commodores

(0-1)

Last week: 0-0 record
Last rank: NA

Vanderbilt blew a 10 point lead to South Carolina on Thursday night in Nashville. The Commodores likely needed that one to ultimately reach bowl eligibility.

12

Kentucky Wildcats

(0-1)

Last week: 0-0 record
Last rank: NA

Kentucky blew a 25 point lead to Southern Miss at home on Saturday night. Much like Vanderbilt, this was probably a must win in order to reach a bowl game this season.

11

Missouri Tigers

(0-1)

Last week: 0-0 record
Last rank: NA

Missouri looked lifeless against West Virginia in Morgantown on Saturday. It was not expected that the Tigers would go to a bowl this year, but there needs to improvements made especially on the offensive side of the ball.

10

South Carolina Gamecocks

(1-0)

Last week: 0-0 record
Last rank: NA

South Carolina was able to escape Nashville with a win, even if it was ugly for both teams. The Gamecocks really needed a win in what looks to be a dismal season on the horizon.

9

Auburn Tigers

(0-1)

Last week: 0-0 record
Last rank: NA

Auburn played a close game with second ranked Clemson on Saturday night but did not look good on the offensive side of the ball. If Auburn can find a passing spark they will shoot up the rankings.

8

Arkansas Razorbacks

(1-0)

Last week: 0-0 record
Last rank: NA

Arkansas barely held on to beat Louisiana Tech 21-20 on Saturday afternoon. The Hogs avoided another loss to a group of 5 team as they lost to Toledo last year.

7

LSU Tigers

(0-1)

Last week: 0-0 record
Last rank: NA

LSU had a disappointing start to the season after they lost to Wisconsin on Saturday at Lambeau Field. The Tigers will look to come up with a passing game to live up to their expectations this season.

6

Florida Gators

(1-0)

Last week: 0-0 record
Last rank: NA

The Gators struggled against UMASS last week to win by a score of 24-7. Florida should improve on this outing to climb up the rankings.

5

Tennessee Volunteers

(1-0)

Last week: 0-0 record

Tennessee started off with a hard fought 20-13 OT win over Appalachian State on Thursday night. It was not an ideal to start to the season for the heavily hyped Volunteers. .

4

Texas A&M Aggies

(1-0)

Last week: 0-0 record
Last rank: NA

Texas A&M pulled out a win in OT over UCLA after nearly blowing a two touchdown lead. The Aggies have the potential to be a good team and possibly contend for the SEC West.

3

Ole Miss Rebels

(0-1)

Last week: 0-0 record
Last rank: NA

Ole Miss lost a 45-34 contest to Florida State on Monday night after having a 22 point lead at one point. There was a lot of promise for Ole Miss and it is easy to see how they can have a good season.

2

Georgia Bulldogs

(1-0)

Last week: 0-0 record
Last rank: NA

Georgia got an impressive win over North Carolina in Atlanta on Saturday. The Bulldogs looked impressive behind Nick Chubb and Jacob Eason leading the offense.

1

Alabama Crimson Tide

(1-0)

Last week: 0-0 record
Last rank: NA

The Crimson Tide looked rather impressive in a 52-6 route of USC in Arlington on Saturday night. Alabama looks to be the team we have come to expect under Nick Saban every year.
