Robert Nkemdiche named SEC Defensive Player of the Week

Lost in the shuffle of all the explosive plays in Ole Miss' big win against Alabama, the play of the Rebel defense, and the line in particular, was spectacular in keeping Derek Henry in check for much of the game.

For his disruptive efforts, Nkemdiche was honored Monday as the SEC's Defensive Player of the Week:

If Nkemdiche can keep up his current level of play, expect Ole Miss to once again finish with the No. 1 scoring defense in the league for the second consecutive season.

• Dominated the trenches in leading Ole Miss in an historic win at Alabama.

• Collected six tackles with 2.5 TFLs and 0.5 sack while opening up opportunities for his teammates

• Assisted on a key sack late in the fourth quarter.

• Led a Rebel defense that forced five Tide turnovers and has 10 takeaways this season.

• It marked Ole Miss' first win in Tuscaloosa since 1988.
