Miami of Ohio point guard headed to NFL as defensive back

CINCINNATI (AP) Quinten Rollins is going from college point guard to NFL defensive back in only one year.

The Miami of Ohio basketball star decided to play football as a fifth-year senior. He hadn’t played the sport since high school, when he was primarily a running back. He quickly caught on as a cornerback.

He not only won a starting job, but ended up as the Mid-American Conference’s defensive player of the year with seven interceptions.

He’s expected to get taken in the early rounds of the NFL draft this week as a cornerback or safety. Rollins has worked out for 15 teams leading up to the draft.
