Louisville defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin has been released from the hospital and the school says in a release that ”evaluations continue to be positive” after he was hit by a vehicle while riding his Moped on campus.
The release Wednesday states that Mauldin’s availability for the Cardinals’ season opener against Ohio on Sunday will be determined over the next few days. The junior is listed as the starter on the depth chart.
Mauldin left Jewish Hospital after being held overnight for observation following the accident. He wasn’t wearing a helmet, but coach Charlie Strong says the 6-foot-4, 243-pound Atlanta native only complained of ”pain and soreness” when he visited him.
Strong says that junior B.J. Dubose is ready to play for Louisville if Mauldin can’t go.
