Ohio State has gone ahead and claimed LeBron James as one of its own. Although the Akron, Ohio, native did not go to Ohio State or any other college, he was introduced Saturday as a Buckeye to a crowd of delirious Buckeyes before Ohio State’s 31-24 win over Wisconsin.
James delivered a brief message.
“I say this all the time: If I would have had one year of college, I would have ended up here in Columbus, Ohio,” he said. “Wherever I go in the world … I will always rock Ohio State colors.”
And that was pretty much it.
There had been some hype about James delivering a pregame speech to the football team. That didn’t happen, but he did show up just long enough to make a bunch of Buckeyes feel happy about a hypothetical decision from 10 years ago.
