Cartel Brooks of Division III Heidelberg University ran for 465 yards, setting an all-division NCAA record, in a 42-14 win over Baldwin Wallace on Saturday.
The record was held by Western Connecticut’s Octavias McKoy, who piled up 455 yards rushing against Worcester State on Oct. 26. Prior to McKoy’s record-setting performance, Dante Brown of Marietta’s mark of 441 yards stood since 1996.
Brooks carried the ball 38 times and scored on runs of 81, 41 and 13 yards.
Brooks set the Heidelberg single-game records for rushing yards and touchdowns last month when he ran for 337 yards and five scores. He finished the regular season with a school-record 1,704 yards rushing.
