Florida Gators Football Recruiting: Tony Gray Update

The Florida Gators football team is building a powerful offensive line. Tony Gray could be the latest high-profile recruit to be added to the roster.

The Florida Gators football team has two star-caliber offensive linemen in Martez Ivey and Jawaan Taylor. Ivey will be eligible for the 2018 NFL Draft and Taylor will be eligible in 2019, which gives Florida at least one more season with that exceptional duo.

Having already made two significant additions to the offensive line via recruiting, the Gators are looking to add another player to the mix.

Florida landed two four-star offensive linemen in T.J. Moore and Kadeem Telfort. Both players are capable of playing one of the two offensive tackle positions or shifting inside to guard due to their size and strength.

According to Andrew Spivey of Gator Country, the Gators have secured an official visit from the four-star offensive lineman Tony Gray.

“I’m setting up my visits for my officials and stuff now,” Gray said. “ I’m going to Oklahoma, Florida and I’m going to…I forgot the other schools.”

“I got Florida set up already, the dates are 20th through the 22nd.”

That’s a promising sign for a Gators team that’s building quite the offensive line.

Gray is listed as a four-star recruit on ESPN247Sports, and Rivals, and is listed as a three-star recruit on Scout. He’s the No. 90 overall recruit on the ESPN 300 and is widely regarded as one of the Top 15 offensive linemen in this recruiting class.

By adding him to the Gators’ current recruiting class, head coach Jim McElwain would have one of the most talented crops of offensive linemen in the country.

Gray is a 6’5″ and 289-pound force to be reckoned with who has his eyes set on immediate playing time. He’s willing to work for his opportunity to play, but he’s hoping to receive an immediate opportunity to take the field.

Whether or not he plays as a freshman, Gray has the potential to be a legitimate star at the collegiate and NFL levels.

There’s no guaranteeing that Florida will be able to convince Gray to come to Gainesville, but the Gators are clearly on the radar.
