Expect an announcement from FCS program Stephen F. Austin on Thursday that former TCU star DE Devonte Fields is officially transferring in, a source told FOX Sports.

Fields, the preseason Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, has been "separated" from the university in connection with a misdemeanor assault arrest. On Wednesday, he tweeted that he was transferring to Stephen F. Austin. The school had no official comment on Fields, but a source said the FCS program will have one to announce the top pass rusher’s arrival Thursday.

Fields has been accused of striking an ex-girlfriend and threatening her with a gun.

Fields, who was suspended early last season for a violation of team policy, was the 2012 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year after making 10 sacks as a true freshman.

The Lumberjacks are in their first season under new head coach Clint Conque.
