East Recruiting Notes

A spin around the happenings of the last week in the East Region:

 

 

  • Four-star defensive tackle Christian Wilkins of Suffield (Conn.) Academy continues to look at six schools, but he is yet to set any more official visits. He tripped to Stanfordin early September, and is still looking at making vists to Notre DameClemsonOhio State and Penn State. Wilkins is also considering Boston College.
  • Greenbelt (Md.) Eleanor Roosevelt four-star offensive tackle Isaiah Prince remains focused on four schools – Alabama, Ohio State, Florida and Maryland â€“ and his only official visit is set for Jan. 16 to Alabama. 
  • Five-star tight end Chris Clark, who is committed to Michigan, scheduled official visits for USC (Nov. 29) and Texas (Dec. 6). He is also talking about visiting North Carolina in a few weeks, but it is yet to be worked out. 
  • Five-star defensive end Josh Sweat has official visits set to Georgia (Nov. 15),Florida State (Nov. 22) and Virginia Tech (Nov. 28), and he is contemplating a trip toOregon before a mid-December decision. He already made an official visit to Ohio State, and he is listing no favorites. 
  • Matthew Burrell had a great visit to Penn State this past weekend. The Nittany Lions are a serious player for Burrell. Along with Penn State, he has taken official visits to Florida State, Ohio State and Tennessee. The four-star Woodbridge (Va.) C.D. Hylton offensive guard will take his final official to Florida on Nov. 15. 
  • Philadelphia George Washington defensive end Shareef Miller will make an official visit to Virginia Tech this weekend and will be at Arizona State the weekend of Jan. 17. He is yet to set any other visits, but he did release a top seven that included those two schools as well as Penn State, TempleRutgersPittsburgh and Purdue
  • Alabama stopped in to see class of 2016 four-star cornerback Jordan Fuller of Old Tappan (N.J.) Northern Valley, and it extended an offer while there. Fuller is slated to visit Penn State for this week’s game against Maryland. 
  • Garrett Taylor decommitted from Michigan on Monday afternoon. The 2015 four-star Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher’s cornerback took an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech last Thursday. He will take official visits to Ohio State on Nov. 22 and Penn State on Nov. 29. He will also take an official to Virginia Tech, but no date has been set. 
  • Ricky DeBerry was sick last week and did not visit Penn State. It is unclear if he will make a trip to Happy Valley before he make his college decision in December. The five-star Mechanicsville (Va.) Atlee outside linebacker will take an official visit Michigan State on Nov. 8 and will likely take his final official to Alabama to Nov. 29. He has already taken visits to OklahomaTennessee and Texas A&M
  • West Virginia quarterback commit David Sills of Elkton (Md.) Eastern Christian is out for the season after breaking his ankle last month, but he told Scout he is on the mend and plans to enroll in January.
  • Sills’ teammate, offensive tackle Jamie Herr, committed to West Virginia in the summer of 2013, but re-classified into the 2014 class. He is playing at Eastern Christian, and said this weekend he plans to enroll at West Virginia in January.
  • Another Eastern Christian prospect, cornerback Vashon Tucker, said he is down to Connecticut, Western Michigan and New Mexico. He hopes to decide in the coming weeks.
