UNC-Wilmington drops Charleston 65-59 to top CAA standings (Jan 19, 2017)

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) C.J. Bryce had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Jordon Talley added 17 points as UNC-Wilmington beat College of Charleston 65-59 Thursday night in a battle between the top two Colonial Athletic Conference teams.

Both teams entered with 6-0 conference records.

The Seahawks broke open a 39-39 tie, holding Charleston scoreless for almost four minutes as they charged to a 48-40 lead at the 12:05 mark of the second half. Charleston never recovered as Talley hit a 3-pointer and made four free throws in the final minute to close the door.

Denzel Ingram added 13 points and Chris Flemmings chipped in 11 for UNCW (18-2, 7-0) which has won seven straight. Devontae Cacok grabbed 13 rebounds for the Seahawks.

Joe Chealey had 17 points to lead Charleston (15-5, 6-1) which had won seven consecutive games.

UNCW shot 36 percent from the floor while limiting Charleston to just 19-of-66 (29 percent) shooting.
