UNC Basketball: Tar Heels stay put in AP Top 25 Poll

UNC stays put at No. 7 in latest AP Top 25 poll that was released on Monday

After dropping in the polls a week ago thanks to a loss on the road in Indiana, the North Carolina Tar Heels stayed put at No. 7 in the latest Associated Press Top 25.

The Tar Heels completed a 2-0 week with a win over Davidson on Wednesday night and a comeback win over Tennessee on Sunday night. UNC was actually down as much as 15 points to the Volunteers and were being outplayed for most of the game.

UNC is missing star point guard Joel Berry II who is dealing with a sprained ankle. The hope is that Berry II can return for Saturday’s showdown against Kentucky in Las Vegas.

The top 10 in the poll stayed the same, as no team suffered a loss during the week. Villanova escaped Notre Dame’s upset bid and eventually won the game.

Even with the loss to Villanova, Notre Dame managed to climb two spots in the latest poll. The ACC has a total of five teams ranked in the Top 25, including two in the Top 10.

Louisville checks in at No. 11, followed by No. 13 Virginia, No. 21 Notre Dame and No. 23 Florida State.

The Seminoles enter the poll for the first time this season after beating rival Florida and improving to 20-1 on the season.

North Carolina will now prepare for a matchup with No. 6 Kentucky in Las Vegas. The game is part of the CBS Sports Classic and will feature UCLA vs. Ohio State in the other matchup.
