Northwestern State comes back to beat Incarnate Word 103-101

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) Freshman DeVonte Hall took the ball the length of the floor and hit a short jumper with 0.3 seconds left to give Northwestern State a 103-101 come-from-behind victory over Incarnate Word on Saturday.

Jalan West, who finished with 33 points, made six straight free throws down the stretch to give Northwestern State a chance to win. Incarnate Word led 98-93 with 1:22 remaining. Northwestern State outscored the Cardinals 10-3 in the final 1:10.

West was 5 of 6 from long range and made 10 of 11 free throws. Zeek Woodley scored 28 points and Tra’von Joseph added 10 for Northwestern State (7-7, 2-1 Southland Conference).

Shawn Johnson hit a 3-point jumper to give the Cardinals a 90-87 lead with 3:44 left. West scored 10 points in the final 1:54.

Denzel Livingston had a career-high 37 points, Johnson added 18 and Kyle Hittle chipped in 16 for UIW (8-4, 0-2).
