Nebraska's Shavon Shields bangs head in hard fall

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) Nebraska basketball player Shavon Shields has been taken to a hospital after falling and banging his head on the court during a game against Rutgers.

The Husker Sports Network reported Saturday that Shields was unconscious briefly but could move his arms and legs.

Shields flipped over the back of D.J. Foreman under the Nebraska basket with 8:49 left. He landed on his left shoulder and smacked his head on the floor.

Shields' mother rushed to his side as medics tended to him. He was put on a backboard and taken from the arena to a standing ovation.
