West Virginia player takes a missile of a pass directly to the face

West Virginia’s Elijah Macon is the front-runner for the most painful moment of the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Lucky him, huh?

The Mountaineers forward was playing tremendous defense – he had trapped Bucknell guard Avi Toomer in the corner – but he had no defense for what happened next. Desperate to unload the ball before stepping out of bounds, Toomer inadvertently fired the ball right into Macon’s face.

Ouch. Chances are, you’ll see this clip again in a few weeks during “One Shining Moment” – even if that isn’t how Macon would classify it.
