On Monday evening, Maryland announced that freshman center Diamond Stone will be suspended for one game following an incident that occurred at the end of the first half during Saturday’s loss to Wisconsin.

On the final play of the first half, Stone and Wisconsin forward Vitto Brown went crashing to the ground as the two fought over a rebound. As Stone began to get up off the floor, he was seen shoving Brown’s face to the ground with an open hand.

“I want to apologize to Vitto Brown and the Wisconsin basketball team for my unacceptable behavior during Saturday’s game,” Stone said in a statement released by the team, according to Dan Martin of omast Sports Mid-Atlantic . “I regret that I let the emotions of the game get the best of me. I let my team down and I accept full responsibility for my actions.”

The Badgers went on to defeat Maryland, 70-57, for their seventh straight win.

Stone, who is averaging 12.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game will miss Saturday’s game at Minnesota. The Gophers are 0-13 in Big Ten play this season.
