Harris leads UTEP to 2nd straight OT win, beating FAU 66-65 (Jan 14, 2017)

EL PASO, Texas (AP) Omega Harris hit a jumper to start the overtime period and UTEP held off Florida Atlantic 66-65 on Saturday night to grab its second straight overtime win.

Dominic Artis hit a fall-away jumper as time expired in double overtime to beat Florida International 88-87 on Thursday night.

UTEP (4-13, 2-3 Conference USA) held a 66-60 lead with 1:11 left in the extra period. FAU's Nick Rutherford made two free throws and Gerdarius Troutman drilled a 3 with three seconds left.

Troutman nailed a trey with five seconds left in regulation to tie it at 55 and force overtime. He totaled 22 points, making 6 of 9 from distance.

Harris finished with 18 points for the Miners, who got back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Matt Willms added 16 points and Paul Thomas chipped in 14. Artis had 11 points.

Rutherford finished with 13 points for FAU (5-11, 1-4).
