Rahmon Fletcher scored 23 points and Bryquis Perine added 17 as
Wisconsin-Green Bay defeated Miami (Ohio) 69-65 Sunday night in the
O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic.
The Phoenix, who trailed by five at halftime, took the lead for
good when Perine broke the game’s seventh tie, scoring on a jumper
with 1:28 left to make it 62-60. Julian Mavunga had a chance to tie
it again but missed 1 of 2 free throws with 1:10 left.
The Phoenix (2-2) sealed the victory by making eight free throws
in the last 42 seconds, including four by Perine and two by
Nick Winbush led the RedHawks (2-2) with 15 points and Antonio
Ballard added 14.
Wisconsin-Green Bay survived a cold-shooting first half (9 of 26
from the field for 34.6 percent) and responded with 16-of-24
shooting effort (66.7 percent) in the second.
