E. Kentucky 81, SIU-Edwardsville 65

Spencer Perrin scored a career-high 20 points and had six

rebounds as Eastern Kentucky pulled away from Southern

Illinois-Edwardsville 81-65 on Wednesday night.

The Colonels (2-2) led 36-33 at halftime, and then shot 58.1

percent (18 of 31) after the break to increase their lead to as

many as 17.

Eastern Kentucky, which won its 13th straight home opener dating

to 1997-98, finished at 51.7 percent from the field (31 of 60). It

was the first time the Colonels shot above 50 percent this

season.

Willie Cruz scored 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting and Josh Daniel

chipped in 13 points and five steals.

The Cougars (0-3) were led by Corey Wickware with 16 points and

Nikola Bundalo with 15.

SIU-Edwardsville was 5 of 10 from 3-point range in the first

half, but was limited to just 13 percent from long range in the

second half (2 of 15).
