Creighton, Xavier trade 3-pointers in wild finish to Big East semis

Well, the Big East semifinals did not disappoint.

In the follow-up to Villanova's gritty, come-from-behind win over Seton Hall, Creighton and Xavier went right down to the wire in Friday's second semifinal too.

With the Bluejays up 72-69 and 30.4 seconds to play, a series of Xavier fouls sent Creighton's Cole Huff to the free-throw line. Huff missed the front end of the 1-and-1. Xavier grabbed the rebound, brought the ball up, and Trevon Bluiett drained a step-back 3-pointer to tie the game at 72 with 15.6 seconds left.

But Creighton wasted no time responding. The Bluejays inbounded the ball, came right back up the court, and got the ball to Marcus Foster, who dribbled in front of Bluiett before rattling in a 3-pointer right in his face to put Creighton back up 75-72 with just over six seconds remaining.

The Musketeers' last-gasp to tie came up short, with J.P. Macura — who had made six threes already in the game — hitting the front rim on a deep attempt as time expired.

Catch your breath. It'll be Villanova and Creighton on Saturday for the Big East championship (5:30 p.m. ET, FOX).
