Blind man hits three-pointer for free food, and crowd goes wild

It isn’t the prize so much as the sheer, unexpected joy of the accomplishment.

Michael Quin of Springfield, Mo., who is blind, came out at halftime of Saturday’s game between College of the Ozarks and Bellevue to take a three-point shot for a chance to win a year’s worth of free food from McDonald’s.

The gym was silent as Quin prepared to take the shot, which made the explosion of cheers that followed when he made the basket that much more thrilling.
