COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) Len Bias, who died of a drug overdose soon after being the No. 2 pick in the 1986 NBA draft, will be inducted into the University of Maryland Hall of Fame.
Bias, who left as the school's career scoring leader, was among eight players announced Wednesday by the Terrapins' athletic department.
Bias was a two-time ACC player of the year and was the conference's athlete of the year and a consensus first-team All-American in 1986. The Boston Celtics drafted him with the second pick, but he died two days later from cardiac arrhythmia induced by a cocaine overdose.
The induction ceremony is set for Oct. 3 in the school's alumni center.
