Arkansas-Pine Bluff outlasts Southern 68-61 (Feb 11, 2017)

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) Trent Steen scored 20 points, Jaquan Lynch added 11, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff pulled away for a 68-61 win over Southern on Saturday night.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (7-19, 6-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference) led 33-29 at halftime and kept the lead until Shawn Prudhomme's layup tied it at 53 with 4:35 to play. Prudhomme missed a dunk and a 3-pointer on the next possession, and Jaquan Lynch's ensuing 3-pointer put the Golden Lions up for good, 56-53.

Lynch, Steen, Marcus Wallace and Joe-Randle Toliver combined to make 9 of 10 free throws down the stretch to ice the win.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff led 30-10 in bench points and held the lead for all but 3:10 of game time.

Jared Sam and Prudhomme scored 16 points apiece for Southern (11-14, 7-5). Sam finished 8 of 10 from the free-throw line and grabbed seven rebounds.
