BOTTOM LINE: Kentucky freshman guard Malik Monk averages 20.4 points a game. Northern Kentucky reached the tournament in its first season of eligibility after all of the lower seeds lost in the Horizon League tournament.

BEST FRESHMEN: Monk, De'Aaron Fox and Bam Adebayo might be coach John Calipari's best freshman trio. They've combined for 49.9 points, 14.5 rebounds and 7.7 assists a game.

LITTLE EXPERIENCE: Eight of the Norse hadn't played in Division I before this season.
